About the program
The Post-Graduate Program in Materials Science and Engineering offers both Master and Doctorate degrees and is focused on both the academic and professional development of the students. The faculty counts with 19 professors with expertise in various subjects within the area of Materials Science and Engineering. The Program is associated with the Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and with the undergraduate course on Metallurgical Engineering, but due to its multidisciplinary vocation it welcomes prospective students with undergraduate background in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
Our mission is to offer graduate students a dynamic and inspiring environment to allow them to pursue their degrees to the best of their abilities while developing high quality new research and technology on topics related to Materials Science and Engineering. Our faculty is a tight group who works closely with students and is always seeking opportunities to increase the quality of the coursework and research activities. This effort translates into a large number of research grants awarded to our faculty members and the establishment of collaborations with universities and companies both in Brazil and abroad. We welcome highly motivated prospective students with undergraduate background in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics to apply. Financial aid is offered on a competitive basis.
